YEAR 59 OF COTE D’IVOIRE WITH VOLUNTEERS OF PLANETE PAIX

August 07, 1960, August 07, 2019 a year of memories, a historic date and a day of celebration for the Ivorian Nation. On Wednesday August 07, 2019, Ivorians in their different components took part in the commemorative ceremony for the 59 years of independence of the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire, which took place at 10 a.m. on Boulevard Valery Giscard d ‘Estaing in Treichville. This historic day began with the Abidjanese National Anthem of Cote d’Ivoire, on the arrival of the President of the Republic his Excellency ALASSANE OUATTARA who received military honors. After giving military honors to the head of state, the ceremony was furnished with parades of all the different bodies of the armed forces. State institutions, including the State Secretariat responsible for Civic Service, also took part in this celebration which focused on the Culture of Unity, Peace and Social Cohesion. The participation of PLANETE PAIX, Organization for the Promotion of Human Rights, Social Welfare, research and the promotion of Peace in the world is part of this perspective. For the occasion, 40 volunteers took part in the independence day, including the Central President, Mr. ACHILLE COMOE, members of the Central office, ladies and gentlemen, the Presidents of the Abidjan sections. PLANETE PAIX wishes an excellent Independence Day to all Ivorians and that this day brings Peace, true reconciliation in Cote d’Ivoire.

More than 700 volunteers, including PLANETE PAIX, stormed Vridi Canal in the commune of Port-BouΓ«t, as part of “My Beach, My Country” organized by the association YALI Alumni Cote d’Ivoire. They cleaned over 2 km of beach and removed from it plastics, glass, and other non-biodegradable waste that has accumulated in this beach for several years. “My Beach, My Country” is an initiative of the US Embassy to educate people about the dangers of litter to the oceans and to marine and human life.

PLANETE PAIX COCODY : 100 YOUNG PEOPLE SENSITIZED ON CIVIC ENGAGEMENT

On Wednesday, July 24, 2019, 100 young people were sensitized on the necessity of civic engagement during a round table organized by PlanΓ¨te Paix Cocody headed by President Alex KOÏ, on the theme “YOUTH, CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS” at the American Space at FΓ©lix HouphouΓ«t-Boigny University. This activity, which began with the national anthem of CΓ΄te d’Ivoire, took place in the presence of the Director of the American Space, the Representative of the Mayor of Cocody and the Central President of the NGO Planete Paix. Mrs. Georgette BOUANH, Director of Civic Service and Volunteering in CΓ΄te d’Ivoire, through facts and experience, demonstrated to participants the need for volunteering in the life of a nation and in the life of an individual. Citizen Engagement is an effective tool for development, solidarity and social cohesion, she explained. As a result, she engaged the 100 young people in volunteering to achieve the SDGs as she believes they are both actors and beneficiaries of development. Ms. BEUGRE NOGBOU LAURIE KEVINE, Vice President in charge of External Relations of AIESEC Cocody-Abidjan, Mr. Herman BOUA ANKOU, Coordinator Yali Network CΓ΄te d’Ivoire, Communication and Mobilization Officer of Yali Cote d’Ivoire, Mr. Franck DOLE, President of the LEO Presidium of CΓ΄te d’Ivoire and Miss Noura SANOGO Finance Secretary of Planete Paix Cocody Representing their respective Organizations shared their experiences. The round table ended with a family photo.
