SUMMARY REPORT OF THE OCTOBER 2020 PRESIDENTIAL OBSERVATION MISSION IN CรTE DโIVOIRE
This report from the Observation Mission (OM), covers all aspects of the 2020 electoral process, while the electoral process is still proceeding. Essential phases remain to be accomplished, in particular the announcement of the preliminary results by the Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) and the handling of possible disputes before the proclamation of the final results by the Constitutional Council (CC). The (MO) is only able to comment on their observations made so far in the process.
COTE DโIVOIRE: CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS CALLED TO SUPPORT MUCH MORE THE AUTHORITIES IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION
Cรดte d’Ivoire celebrated, at the initiative of the High Authority for Good Governance (HABG) on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, the international day against corruption on the theme. “Restore with integrity” in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic. Topics such as “Ethics and professional conduct as means of fighting corruption in public administration for development” and “The importance of the judicial system in the consolidation of the fight against corruption in Cรดte d’Ivoire โwere addressed during this ceremony respectively by Mr. TRAORE Bakari, Chief of Staff of the President of the HABG and Mr. DELBE Z. Constant, Technical Advisor of the Ministry of Justice. This ceremony was under the patronage of Mr. Hamed Bakayoko, Prime Minister, Minister of Defense. For the head of the Ivorian Government, we cannot succeed in effectively combating the scourge of corruption without values. The strength of societies is the values โโthey carry, because a society in which values โโno longer have their place is exposed to all kinds of behavior likely to endanger it. According to him, a better and united Cรดte d’Ivoire can only be achieved if the actions initiated for a profound transformation are supported by values โโof union, discipline, work, solidarity, justice but also and above all good governance. . This is why, in the light of the major challenges for economic and social development which are ours for the coming decades, the Government intends to draw inspiration from best practices throughout the world to strengthen the fight against corruption in our country. . In this regard, he reaffirmed the government’s total availability to firmly support the High Authority for Good Governance in the assessment of the national integrity system with a view to updating other national anti-corruption strategies. This day was the occasion of a call to the collective conscience.
This day was celebrated in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights and the presence of civil society organizations, in particular PLANETE PAIX represented by S. Em. Achille COMOE and the Regional Landry KOUA respectively Central President and Volunteer Program Analyst of the said Organization. The objective sought by the organizers is to send a strong message to national and international public opinion concerning the commitment of Cรดte d’Ivoire in the prevention and fight against corruption and similar offenses.

GLOBAL AFRICA DAY: CIVIL SOCIETY PERSONALITIESย INDICATE THE WAY FORWARD
During the commemoration of the anniversary of the Organization of African Unity (May 25, 1963) on May 25, 2020, H. Em. Achille COMOE and M. Victor Naclan Tourรฉ respectively Central President of PLANETE PAIX and General Coordinator of COSOPCI were the guests of Radio de la Paix. The two civil society figures took the opportunity to take stock of the Continental Organization’s mid-term. The challenges to be met by the said organization, the question of irregular immigration, of coronavirus disease, the subjects related to the strengthening of the integration of peoples on the continent, the problem of education, human rights and unemployment were discussed. Our two guests stressed that if things have been done, much remains to be done. They therefore invited african governments to involve young people, african researchers, to work to create a favorable living environment for their populations in order to avoid irregular emigration and unwanted loss of life. They also indicated that coronavirus disease is a situation that should necessarily excite African leaders who must pull themselves together by building adequate and adapted health infrastructure. The African authorities were finally challenged on the respect of their international commitments, on the question of school and university infrastructures and on the funding of research.
