On Wednesday, July 24, 2019, 100 young people were sensitized on the necessity of civic engagement during a round table organized by PlanΓ¨te Paix Cocody headed by President Alex KOΓ, on the theme “YOUTH, CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS” at the American Space at FΓ©lix HouphouΓ«t-Boigny University. This activity, which began with the national anthem of CΓ΄te d’Ivoire, took place in the presence of the Director of the American Space, the Representative of the Mayor of Cocody and the Central President of the NGO Planete Paix. Mrs. Georgette BOUANH, Director of Civic Service and Volunteering in CΓ΄te d’Ivoire, through facts and experience, demonstrated to participants the need for volunteering in the life of a nation and in the life of an individual. Citizen Engagement is an effective tool for development, solidarity and social cohesion, she explained. As a result, she engaged the 100 young people in volunteering to achieve the SDGs as she believes they are both actors and beneficiaries of development.
