Motivation

 

Many important topics on the international development agenda and human rights have a day of observance. For example, December 10 is Human Rights Day, while June 20 is Refugees Day. Why International Identity Day?

 

International Identity Day (known as ID-Day) aims to raise awareness of the important role that identity plays in enabling people to exercise their rights and responsibilities in a fair and equitable way. a modern society.

 

Why September 16?

 

The choice of September 16 has been chosen to commemorate Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16.9, which calls for a legal identity for all, including birth registration by 2030.

 

Context

The ID-Day campaign was launched by ID4Africa during the 4th Annual Meeting of the ID4Africa movement, on April 24, 2018, in Abuja, Nigeria. The launch was initially welcomed by more than 1,500 individual signatures approving the proposal. This represents almost 99% of the delegates present, which reinforced the need to move the campaign forward for further development and international engagement.

 

Development and progress

 

The campaign entered its second phase in August 2018. This phase consists of forming a coalition which has been created for the political advocacy of the institutions represented, which will sensitize the United Nations delegations and their governments on the importance of identity legal so that they will vote in favor of this resolution when it reaches the General Assembly of the United Nations. Today, the coalition is represented by more than 110 of the world’s largest organizations who are members of the coalition and who support this resolution.

The call for recognition of an identity day is a global initiative since identity plays an increasingly important role in the world, both in developed and developing economies. . It is on this basis that key partners must participate and align themselves with this campaign in order to sensitize governments and countries around the world on the responsible adoption of legal identity.

Lest the world forget the importance of identity, we urge all policy makers to join the coalition to help them create a permanent reminder that will give each country the opportunity, every year, to come together and assess their progress towards achieving this goal of such fundamental human development. This campaign in no way implies any financial commitment, and shows that your institution supports this initiative. Countries and organizations that choose to observe on this day would be encouraged to organize events and activities to educate the public, legislators and officials on responsible adoption of the identity and necessary protection around it. last to make it a working tool for the public good.

SEP 2019 : Nigeria officially declares September 16 as National Identity Day.

PEACE DIGITAL ELECTIONS PROJECT: THE LOCAL OFFICIALS OF β€œGRANDS PONTS REGION” TO COLLABORATE WITH PLANETE PAIX

After the District of Abidjan and the GbΓͺkΓͺ Region, PLANETE PAIX met local officials of “Grands Ponts” Region on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 to present and explain the project “Peace Digital Elections”. The delegation of the Organization led by President Achille COMOE, accompanied on this occasion by the Advisor CendrΓ© KOSSA and the President of the Commune of COCODY, was received by the Technical Advisor to the President of the Regional Council in charge of Youth, Kano Daouda to discuss the program that aims to build the capacities of the Youth of the Region on issues of Peace, Security, Elections, Volunteering. The program will end on December 31, 2020 and aims above all to promote peaceful, inclusive, participatory elections by 2020 in CΓ΄te d’Ivoire. This National project will be implemented in 45 localities covering the 32 Regions and will be done in collaboration with various actors including the Local Authorities of all the regions concerned. The delegation then met with the Head of Cabinet and the Cabinet Director of this Institution. After the Regional Council, she went to the City Hall where she discussed the issue with the Mayor’s Chief of Staff. All of the authorities met applauded the initiative and promised to support the success of the program in the Region.

On Wednesday August 07, 2019, Ivorians in their different components took part in the commemorative ceremony for the 59 years of independence of the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire, which took place at 10 a.m. on Boulevard Valery Giscard d ‘Estaing in Treichville. This historic day began with the Abidjanese National Anthem of Cote d’Ivoire, on the arrival of the President of the Republic his Excellency ALASSANE OUATTARA who received military honors. After giving military honors to the head of state, the ceremony was furnished with parades of all the different bodies of the armed forces. State institutions, including the State Secretariat responsible for Civic Service, also took part in this celebration which focused on the Culture of Unity, Peace and Social Cohesion. The participation of PLANETE PAIX, Organization for the Promotion of Human Rights, Social Welfare, research and the promotion of Peace in the world is part of this perspective. For the occasion, 40 volunteers took part in the independence day, including the Central President, Mr. ACHILLE COMOE, members of the Central office, ladies and gentlemen, the Presidents of the Abidjan sections. PLANETE PAIX wishes an excellent Independence Day to all Ivorians and that this day brings Peace, true reconciliation in Cote d’Ivoire.

More than 700 volunteers, including PLANETE PAIX, stormed Vridi Canal in the commune of Port-BouΓ«t, as part of “My Beach, My Country” organized by the association YALI Alumni Cote d’Ivoire. They cleaned over 2 km of beach and removed from it plastics, glass, and other non-biodegradable waste that has accumulated in this beach for several years. “My Beach, My Country” is an initiative of the US Embassy to educate people about the dangers of litter to the oceans and to marine and human life.
