PLANรˆTE PAIX, A NGO SERVING THE COMMUNITY

PLANรˆTE PAIX supports flood victims in Abidjan. Citizen engagement through volunteering is one of the values of our organization. In partnership with the Ministry of Youth Promotion, Youth Employment and Civic Service, and the National Office of Civil Protection, our members have been deployed in several disaster areas including Riviera Palmeraie, North Cape and ALLABRA. These actions were carried out June 22-23, 2018. The main areas of intervention were related to safety actions, help with the removal of people affected by the disaster and raising awareness among the population in risky areas.

THE REVISION OF THE VOTERS LIST IN COTE Dโ€™IVOIRE: PLANรˆTE PAIX DEPLOYS HIS OBSERVERS ON THE GROUND

In the framework of the revision of the electoral list, our observation mission accredited by the Independent Electoral Commission covers several centers. The NGO PLANETE PAIX has deployed several teams on the ground. The atmosphere of the enlistment centers was far from disturbances. However, each center lived its own reality. The influx was increasing; on the first days of the census the agents observed hesitation on the part of the populations. But as the deadline approached, there was strong public mobilization. Although the operation went well overall, it should nevertheless be noted that we have observed in some centers, problems related to electronic census equipment (device that crashes, battery not resistant and that discharges quickly), insufficiency or lack of enrollment papers. This slowed down the work of the agents and caused complaints or tensions on the part of the population. In addition, we noted poor reception by some agents and slowness with some census agents, all of which favored long queues. In some centers the agents did not inform the population on the closure of the center, they let them rank before announcing suddenly the closing pretexting of fatigue. Some people wanted the IEC to extend the census period. For them a large population margin was not yet enlisted. The queues were still important until the evening of Sunday, June 24, 2018 in several centers. In addition, the populations suggest a good training of the census agents for a more professional work.
