PLANETE PAIX INVITED TO THE 70TH ANNIVERSARY ROUND TABLE OF THE AFRICAN SYNOD ON HUMAN RIGHTS IN AFRICA

PLANETE PAIX was among the guests at the 70th Anniversary Roundtable of the African Synod on Human Rights in Africa to contribute to the issue of human rights in Africa. This round table was initiated by the Justice and Peace Commission of the Convent of Saint Dominic, the Center for Research and Action for Peace (CERAP) and the Ivorian League of Human Rights (LIDHO) on December 10, 2018 at CERAP Cocody Mermoz.

Three topics, taken from the central theme: “What lessons can we draw from the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for Africa? “.

 The 1st : “African traditions and human rights” was treated by Dr. Francine DASSร‰. The second : “The realities of the application of the UDHR in Africa” โ€‹โ€‹by Me. Traorรฉ DRISSA. And finally, the third: “The prospects for improving the governance ragarding the situation of human rights and human development in Africa”  by Dr. N’gouan Patrice.

Quoting Prof. OURAGA OBOU, all the participants recognized that rights in Africa are widely proclaimed, inadequately protected and constantly violated. So, 3 types of solution levers were recommended, namely:

– The institutional, political and administrative levers

– Diplomatic levers for example banchmarking

– And the civil and communication levers, the financing of Civil Society Organizations as an example.

PARTICIPATION OF THE NGO PLANETE PAIX IN THE DEDICATION OF THE BOOK “COTE Dโ€™IVOIRE : PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS BY 202O”

A delegation from the NGO PLANรˆTE PAIX was present at the conference-dedication of the conference book Cรดte dโ€™Ivoire : Presidential election (s) by the year 202O. This delegation was led by Mr. FOFONA N’godji, President of the Adjamรฉ branch, accompanied by Mr. N’guessan Koffi Denis and Mr. Traorรฉ Mory. The conference was opened by the Foundation Representative FRIEDRICH EBERT STIFTUNG Mr. THILO Schone with a quote from Socrates “Our youth loves luxury, he makes fun of authority and has no respect for the elders … they get up when an old man comes in. They answer back to their parents and chat instead of working. “ Indeed, through this quote he wants to carry an analysis on youth. The Representative stressed that today’s youth face the employment challenge, unlike their parents. Thus, even if they are not entirely responsible for crises they can change things. We had five people at the conference table namely Dr. Malou KOUASSI Angel Aristide the author of the book “Cรดte d’Ivoire Presidential Election (s) by 2020”, Mr. ANAMAM Narcis 1st Vice President of PDCI RDA youth, Ms. Carelle letitia Goli blogger, editor and feminist and Leonelle, politician. Dr. Malou kOUASSI Angel Aristide insisted on the encouragement of the Friedrich Ebert Stifung Foundation which allowed him to write the book. The author has made a general and relevant analysis on the policy and show the stakes of the presidential elections 2020. According to the author the electoral problems are located on several levels namely the security, the educational system, the economic system etc … He added that the system is not educational but rather an informative system. The debate was open and interesting.

The “Young Championsโ€™ Summit” is a three (03) day annual and international Program promoting peace and sustainable development and addressing topical issues. It includes international summits and local programs. The international component is an experience sharing program that brings together young Leaders who already impact their communities through their actions. Participants work in various domains. Certain fight against climate change, some against violent extremism and terrorism, other against Corruption and still other for promoting women empowerment etc. The Program aims at strengthening their capacities through panels and internships related to their scope of action. So, after the Summit, participants focus on specific subject among the topics covered through local programs regarding their mission and give feedbacks through platforms dedicated to the program.

130 YOUNG CHAMPIONS HAVE ARRANGED A TIME IN COTE D’IVOIRE ON NOVEMBER 15, 16, 17, 2018 FOR PEACE, SECURITY AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

130 Young Champions from around 20 nationalities have arranged a time on November 15, 16 and 17, 2018 as part of the Young Champions program in Abidjan-Cรดte d’Ivoire to contribute to peace, security and offer solutions for sustainable development.

Indeed, the “Young Champions’ Program” is an annual theoretical and hands-on program of 03 days of capacity building, training, awareness, youth empowerment, experience sharing for peace, security and sustainable development. It integrates international and national youth forums for a better sharing of experience on topical issues. Acts from the program allow participants to impact their communities more effectively. It includes panels and internships of 4 hours in departments or institutions to allow trainees to enrich themselves with hands-on experience and know-how.

The Season 2 to be held on November 15, 16, 17, 2018 in Cรดte d’Ivoire is intended to reduce corruption, provide prevention tools and technical solutions to combat climate migration and deforestation, limit rise of violent extremism and terrorism and to encourage women’s initiatives for their empowerment within the community.
