PLANETE PAIX was among the guests at the 70th Anniversary Roundtable of the African Synod on Human Rights in Africa to contribute to the issue of human rights in Africa. This round table was initiated by the Justice and Peace Commission of the Convent of Saint Dominic, the Center for Research and Action for Peace (CERAP) and the Ivorian League of Human Rights (LIDHO) on December 10, 2018 at CERAP Cocody Mermoz.
Three topics, taken from the central theme: “What lessons can we draw from the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for Africa? “.
The 1st : “African traditions and human rights” was treated by Dr. Francine DASSร. The second : “The realities of the application of the UDHR in Africa” โโby Me. Traorรฉ DRISSA. And finally, the third: “The prospects for improving the governance ragarding the situation of human rights and human development in Africa” by Dr. N’gouan Patrice.
Quoting Prof. OURAGA OBOU, all the participants recognized that rights in Africa are widely proclaimed, inadequately protected and constantly violated. So, 3 types of solution levers were recommended, namely:
– The institutional, political and administrative levers
– Diplomatic levers for example banchmarking
– And the civil and communication levers, the financing of Civil Society Organizations as an example.
