The celebration of World Refugee Day on Tuesday, June 20, 2018 was held in the auditorium of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the presence of the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, the Minister of African integration and Ivorians from abroad, the Resident Representative of the High Commissioner for Refugees in CΓ΄te d’Ivoire, members of the Diplomatic Corps, representatives of the United Nations System program, the Mayor of the Plateau, religious, traditional, civil society leaders and refugees in CΓ΄te d’Ivoire. In his address, Mr. Mohamed Askia TOURE, UNHCR’s Resident Representative in CΓ΄te d’Ivoire renewed his organization’s solidarity and commitment to refugees. He also praised the legendary hospitality and the role played by CΓ΄te d’Ivoire in seeking sustainable solutions for people in need of international protection. Through this year’s theme “With Refugees”, he called for the determination of partners to work in order to provide meaningful assistance to refugees. Mr. Mamadou Coulibaly, Minister of Justice and Human Rights, stressed that CΓ΄te d’Ivoire remains faithful to its policy of openness and tradition of hospitality, and will continue to call for greater solidarity. the Rwandan refugees in CΓ΄te d’Ivoire produces an artistic performance followed by that of the Ivorian βthe Magnifikβ.
